Spiritual Warfare Is Very Real But Be Encouraged.

4 Biblical Facts About Spiritual Warfare.

Christians are fighting a spiritual battle daily , but the Lord wants to encourage us in every way possible. He gives us weapons  to win the war, as well as a reminder that he is ultimately in control of all things. Deuteronomy 20:1,says “When you go out to war against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and an army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.” God loves and cares for us so much, that He gives us love and encouragement to approach any spiritual warfare boldly and with a winning attitude.

The Invisible War

Do you remember reading where Daniel prayed to God and it took 3 weeks before he got his answer from God through the angel? The angel told Daniel“The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia” (Dan 10:13).  This invisible war that is going on is why Paul told the church to “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Eph 6:11-12). Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not real!

Fighting the Battle but the War is Won

Jesus actually used the Word of God effectively in resisting Satan in tempting Christ in the wilderness (Matt 4:11).  When we memorize Scripture we can effectively deal with the enemies frontal attacks because really, the war has already been won by Jesus Christ Who Himself took on the powers of darkness and its ruler and defeated them at Calvary. It was “through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives” (Heb 2:14b-15).

The Church is the bride of Christ

The Lord has granted us His wisdom.  This discernment has been given to us to help us stand strong against Satan’s tactics. Being a part of the church will help us wage an effective spiritual war against our greatest enemy. Eph 3:10 -“…so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.”

God Gives us the Weapons of our Warfare

Our weapons are the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the shoes of the Gospel of peace, the sword of the Spirit, and the shield of faith. These weapons are not the traditional ones used in war, but they are even more effective in defeating our enemy. This verse confirms that it is through God that our foes are disarmed and put to shame, and that we can triumph over them. Colossians 2:15 “He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.”

Conclusion:

Just beyond the realm of our everyday interactions, lurking in the shadows, clothed in mystery and confusion, there is Satan and he is real. Angels, demons, spiritual warfare do all exist, but we don’t have to live in fear. We can rely on Jesus to fight our enemy’s weapons of temptation and accusation. We can have victory! Fight the good fight until Christ returns and makes everything right!
