Comfort After A Death Can Be Found In The Bible

When a death occurs in the family, or to an unrelated loved one, the toll it can take on you emotionally is really difficult. Comfort After A Death does not have to seem impossible. While you know that your loved one is reunited with Jesus in God’s Kingdom, it’s painful to know that you will not be enjoying their company any more until your time to reunite with them has come. So how can you get past these difficult times and find the comfort you need? Within the Bible, the word of God provides a great deal of insightful words to help you to cope. 3 Bible passages we love for comfort after a loved one’s death are:

  1. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 – “So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”In this passage, it is explained that while we may feel at home in our bodies, our true home is when we are reconnected with God. When a loved one passes away, they are brought into their true home. This knowledge gives comfort after a death.
  2. Philippians 3:20-21 – “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.”When we connect with Jesus in the Kingdom of Heaven, our ailments are washed away, and we’re brought back to a state of divine likeness to the Lord. The things that pained our loved ones in life no longer ail them once they’re brought to God through death.
  3.  Revelation 14:13 – “And I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Blessed indeed,’ says the Spirit, ‘that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!’”In death, we are freed from our labors, and we are given the precious gift of eternal rest in the paradise of God. While it may hurt to be away from the ones we love, we can seek comfort after a death in knowing that they are experiencing a second life, an eternal life, free from the strife that followed them in their mortal one.
